At Asian Women for Health (AWFH), volunteers are an essential part of our mission to advance health equity and strengthen Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities across Massachusetts.
Whether you have a few hours to give, professional expertise to share, or are looking for a long-term leadership opportunity, there are many ways to get involved. We welcome individuals, students, corporate employee groups, and community leaders who are passionate about making a meaningful impact.
Volunteer opportunities may be available in person, virtually, or in a hybrid format depending on program needs.
Volunteer Opportunities
Community Events & Outreach
Program Areas: Community Health Education • Community-Engaged Research • Youth Programs • CelebrAsians
Commitment: One-time or occasional (typically 2–6 hours)
Support AWFH at health fairs, educational workshops, cultural celebrations, research events, and community gatherings. Volunteers help create welcoming, engaging experiences for participants while increasing access to culturally responsive health resources.
Volunteer activities may include:
- Greeting and registering participants
- Staffing outreach or information tables
- Assisting with event logistics and set-up/breakdown
- Distributing educational materials
- Supporting participant surveys or evaluations
- Facilitating children’s or family-friendly activities
- Providing general event support and wayfinding
This opportunity is ideal for individuals, families, students, and corporate employee volunteer groups looking to make an immediate impact.
Youth Mentorship & Programming (AYMHI)
Program Area: Asian Youth Mental Health Initiative (AYMHI) & Peer Leadership Program
Commitment: School year or project-based (approximately 2–4 hours per month)
Support young people as they develop leadership skills, build confidence, strengthen cultural identity, and prioritize their mental health and well-being. Depending on program needs, volunteers may serve as mentors or assist with youth-focused workshops and events.
Possible volunteer roles include:
- Serving as a mentor to middle school, high school, or college-age participants
- Supporting peer leadership and youth engagement activities
- Assisting with workshops on wellness, identity, or career exploration
- Helping facilitate community events and family activities
- Sharing educational or professional experiences with youth participants
Ideal for professionals, graduate students, educators, and community members who enjoy working with young people.

Empower the Next Generation of Leaders
Program Area: Workforce Development & Economic Mobility
Commitment: Flexible (typically 1–2 hours per month for 4–6 months)
Support community members as they navigate their educational and professional journeys by sharing your experience, insights, and encouragement. Whether you’re an experienced professional, manager, entrepreneur, or subject matter expert, your guidance can help participants build confidence and achieve their career goals.
Mentors may be matched with Community Health Worker graduates, program participants, or other individuals seeking career development and economic mobility opportunities.
Volunteer activities may include:
- Providing one-on-one career mentorship and guidance
- Reviewing resumes and LinkedIn profiles
- Conducting mock interviews
- Offering networking and job search advice
- Coaching professional communication and workplace readiness
- Sharing industry knowledge and career pathways
- Participating in career panels, informational interviews, or skill-building workshops

CelebrAsians 2027: Organizing Committee
Program Area: Annual Gala & Fundraising
Commitment: Seasonal; approximately 2–6 hours per month during planning
Join the volunteer committee behind CelebrAsians, AWFH’s premier fundraising gala celebrating leadership, resilience, and the vibrancy of AANHPI communities.
Committee members collaborate with staff to plan and execute a successful event while expanding community partnerships and philanthropic support.
Volunteer responsibilities may include:
- Sponsorship cultivation and outreach
- Silent auction procurement
- Marketing and social media promotion
- Guest experience and hospitality planning
- Program development
- Volunteer coordination
- Community engagement and ambassador activities

Board of Directors
Program Area: Organizational Leadership & Governance
Commitment: Multi-year leadership service
Board members play a vital role in guiding AWFH’s strategic direction, ensuring strong governance, supporting fundraising efforts, and serving as ambassadors for the organization.
Responsibilities may include:
- Participating in regular board meetings
- Serving on committees or task forces
- Providing strategic guidance and oversight
- Supporting fundraising and donor engagement
- Opening doors to partnerships and community relationships
- Advocating for AWFH and its mission
- Leveraging professional expertise to strengthen organizational capacity
