Health Equity and Education

Asian American patients often face unique challenges such as language barriers, cultural stigmas, and difficulties navigating the healthcare system. These obstacles can lead to delayed diagnoses, poorer treatment outcomes, and increased stress. At Asian Women for Health, we address these barriers by empowering AANHPI and underserved communities to become health advocates for themselves and others in their communities. Through workshops and safe spaces for dialogue on topics like mental health and healthcare access, participants gain the tools and confidence to improve their health and well-being.

Our Health Equity program hosts workshops on health topics relevant to the AANHPI and underserved communities. At each workshop, we typically engage 20–35 participants in a judgment-free environment where every voice is valued. These discussions help create culturally and linguistically tailored resource guides, which we share with the broader community. By fostering awareness and understanding, we aim to break down barriers and promote health equity for all.

We also offer peer mentorship and community literacy services to provide direct help within the communities we serve. These services are based on tailored needs that come from community conversations and insight from Community Health Workers.
