About AWFH

Our Mission

AWFH is committed to advancing health equity, racial justice, and community support for pan-Asian populations across generations and socioeconomic backgrounds. We offer linguistically and culturally responsive health education and community health support, while empowering underrepresented minorities to lead the fight against health inequities.

Programs & Impact

Our Community Health Impact Program is at the core of our efforts. This initiative recruits, trains, and places CHWs in underserved Asian communities, equipping them to:

  • Support patients navigating the healthcare system.
  • Provide health literacy workshops.
  • Address cultural and systemic barriers to care.

Key populations served include:

  • Marginalized Asian ethnic communities such as Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Korean, Indian, and Pakistani.
  • Broader minority groups, including Haitian, Hispanic/Latinx, and BIPOC communities with mental health needs.
  • Residents in areas like Chinatown, Quincy, Dorchester, Malden/Medford, Lowell, Allston/Brighton, Cambridge, and Somerville.

AWFH also leads impactful initiatives like:

  • Supporting legislation, such as the Data Equity and Language Access bills, to drive systemic change.
  • Serving as the East Coast AAPI lead for the All of Us Research Program, a National Institutes of Health-funded initiative collecting data to advance precision medicine.

By addressing culturally and linguistically relevant health topics, AWFH raises awareness and strengthens the health of AAPI communities.

Looking Ahead

Today, AWFH continues to deliver culturally tailored health education through workshops, seminars, and Community Health support through CHWs deployed within underrepresented communities. We connect and empower women to advocate for their health while fostering community and reducing language barriers. Through programs like Community Health Impact and partnerships like All of Us Research Program, AWFH ensures that diverse AAPI voices are represented in healthcare research and that Asian communities receive the health support services they need, paving the way for a healthier, more equitable future for all.
